United Kingdom vs Texas
Texas is bigger. It measures 688,751 km² against the United Kingdom’s 239,619 km² — 2.9 times the size. Two United Kingdoms fit inside Texas, and 209,513 km² is still left.
A third UK would need 718,857 km², which is 30,106 km² more than Texas has. So it is not three. It is 2.9, which is already enough to annoy anyone who thinks a state should lose to a country.

Areas are the shapes drawn on Map Real Size, measured on the sphere. Official land-area tables differ where they include inland water, a different coastline, or a disputed border. Texas against France, and the UK in the margin.
